Relegation a threat as Newcastle sink lower

When you lose a game you know you should win maybe it's twice as disappointing," Keegan said.

Hughes believes Keegan will guide Newcastle out of their tailspin, which has seen his seven matches in charge yield five defeats and two draws.

In pics: Premier League actionFootball fans' forum"I'm surprised there hasn't been a Keegan effect on the pitch, though there has been a fantastic effect on the surrounding area," Hughes said.

"The scenes you saw when he was appointed prove that. Maybe it hasn't quite happened on the pitch yet, but it's only a matter of time. But the longer they go without a positive result, the more tension and apprehension there will be. I'm sure they'll have enough to stay up."

Government Workers Skip Telecommuting Opportunity

Advocates of telework say it can provide government agencies several benefits, including a way to remotely continue operations during a natural disaster or terrorist attack. Telecommuting can also ease the enormous traffic problems in the Washington, D.C., area, advocates say.

Government employees need access to a good broadband connection and support such as a help desk in order to telecommute successfully, Brunson said. But it's easier than ever to telework, with broadband, mobile e-mail, easy-to-use video conferencing and other services readily available, he added.

"Telework has grown leaps and bounds from five years ago," he said. "With the prevalence of broadband service out there, there are a lot of tools we have that we didn't have five years ago. With today's technology, [video conferencing] is pretty rock solid and almost utility-like."

Employees have some responsibility to show they can telework, he added.

Perfect partnership

She's a news junkie and loves pitching stories, talking to journalists and doing that side of the business. Prue is exceptionally good at strategy, ideas and writing, so we are a great match.

What are your individual weaknesses?

Lou tries to be superwoman, juggling family, work, clients and exercise. She is also sometimes too immersed in issues and crises and takes them home. Prue is juggling media commitments as well as her work here, so she sometimes needs to take a chill pill to put it all in perspective.

How are these skills, strengths and weakness exploited in the partnerships?

While we both love different roles and tasks so it is easy for us to work together. We also cover for each other and step in when one of us is drowning.

CapeCodToday Blog Chowder

In a Cape Cod Times editorial today they took the position that it was a good idea. Well, they didn't really stick out their neck; they said it is worth considering.

My feeling is this: Schools should try single sex groupings it and see who it helps without tooting it all over the place as the answer. Results, in terms of test scores and emotional output should be studied. Doctoral dissertations should be encouraged to examine it and survey research should be funded to see how much, if at all, it helps. Finally, the question must be asked if it is worth setting aside Title IX and possibly the culture altering woman's movement to do it?

We need to know these things before we get too infatuated with separating boys and girls at school.
