| Future possible for GOP’s should-be candidate
When Mitt Romney made his attempt at a graceful exit last week from the race for the Republican presidential nomination, he handed the convention to John McCain. For all his talk of conservative principles, he refused to give the other conservative with a shot at the party's nod — Huckabee — a chance to derail the McCain train. The political reality after Super Tuesday was that in order for McCain to lose, Romney or Huckabee would have to drop out. If, once Romney had made up his mind, he had decided to give his delegates to Huckabee and support him on the trail, the combined delegate count and resulting momentum would have had McCain quaking in his boots. Unfortunately, it's all speculation — despite Huckabee's scrappy wins in several Southern states since Feb.

BNP imports candidates to qualify for TV adverts
There is a tension within the ranks of the BNP between their desire to be recognised as a mainstream respectable party with their undoubted far right following and this will cause problems for them in the near future and will likely cause splits. They have probably peaked in England and are hoping for gains in Scotland but these will be few. They need to be opposed ever time they raise their ugly nazi heads. .
Deep freeze tough on drivers
Calgary roads gave city drivers more than a little cause for caution Saturday. Blowing snow and black ice are being blamed for a hectic day that kept emergency responders busy with minor collisions all day long. City police said street accidents consisted primarily of minor fender benders, with no major injuries reported. "I would say just generally speaking all the roads are in icy winter driving conditions," said Calgary police Duty Insp. Frank Farkas. The situation was considerably more intense in interior B.C. yesterday, with heavy snowfalls of up to two metres in some areas creating highway closures. .
Moss there for the taking, if any team is interested
The NFL Network perpetuated an interesting rumor and theory that perhaps Moss and aging Packers quarterback Brett Favre would finally team up in Green Bay. After all, Favre wanted Moss before the '07 season. Moss, the story goes, didn't feel the Packers were as welcoming as the Patriots, which is why he was happy to be traded to New England after two forgettable seasons with the Raiders. The Moss watch continues, and you have to think his most recent team is a little uncomfortable as this unfolds. With the Patriots' former No. 3 receiver, Donte' Stallworth, signing a seven-year, $35 million ($10 million guaranteed) deal on Saturday to play opposite Braylon Edwards in the Browns' increasingly fortified offense, New England's one-time glut of Tom Brady targets is dwindling.
